MetroLinq 2.5G series devices are a perfect solution allowing deployment of fiber-like wireless connectivity quickly and cost-effectively. 60GHz mmwave technology works well to deliver high capacity connectivity even in urban environments and helps to eliminate the interference and colocation issues that are increasingly common in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Multiple MetroLinq models are available to choose from depending on distance and capacity requirements for both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint scenarios.

To test the performance, Ar@net deployed MetroLinq 2.5G 60-35 products on a problematic 1.4 km PTP link. The MetroLinq enabled a significant jump in performance – from a sluggish 70Mbps on the previous 5GHz link to a blazing 1.7 Gbps – a nearly 25x capacity increase! A video showing the throughput was recorded to illustrate the performance of their new 60 GHz PTP link.

“We are very happy with this link. Before the MetroLinq, we were unable to get more than 70 Mbps using the 5 GHz band due to the spectrum saturation”, says the owner of Ar@net, Sergio Farfan Medrano.

“Ar@net is one of IgniteNet’s pioneer customers in Mexico, and we are excited to see our 60GHz mmwave MetroLinq products eliminating interference and capacity issues for our them and at the same time allowing them to increase capacity by nearly 25x. Ar@net is another example of how wireless providers are using mmwave to do what wireline operators cannot - deliver affordable gigabit connections quickly!” says Harold Bledsoe, president of IgniteNet.
